Brazil’s Supreme Court allows Caixa to join municipal lottery case

Regulation

Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court allowed Caixa Econômica Federal to participate as an amicus curiae in a case over municipal lotteries. A preliminary injunction issued in December 2025 requires municipal lottery operations to stop and bars new programmes; the court has not set a date for its final judgment.

Caixa’s participation adds a state-run lottery operator to litigation over municipal authority and the suspension of local lottery operations.
