MGM plans $2bn annual Osaka investment in 2027 and 2028

Deals & M&A

MGM Resorts International plans to invest about $1bn annually in its Osaka project in 2027 and 2028, CFO Jonathan Halkyard said on the company’s third-quarter 2026 earnings call. MGM expects to contribute JPY150bn to JPY160bn, or $950m to $1bn, in each year; available cash and free cash flow will fund its contributions, while ORIX and a yen-denominated bank facility cover the rest of the $10bn development.

MGM’s planned contributions and financing split indicate the scale and funding sources of its Osaka integrated resort project.

MGM Resorts reports 1% Q3 revenue decline to $4.2bn

MGM Resorts International reported a 1% year-on-year fall in consolidated revenue to $4.2 billion in the third quarter of 2026, as weaker Las Vegas Strip results offset growth elsewhere. Net loss narrowed to $17 million from $285 million a year earlier, while adjusted EBITDA declined to $403 million from $506 million. CEO Bill Hornbuckle attributed pressure on Las Vegas results partly to higher travel costs.

Consolidated revenue at MGM Resorts International came in at $4.2 billion for the third quarter of 2026, a drop of 1% compared with the same period a year before. Gains elsewhere in the business were not enough to counter softer results on the Las Vegas Strip. The net loss shrank to $17 million, down from $285 million in the prior-year quarter, and adjusted EBITDA moved from $506 million to $403 million.
