Mexico City lawmaker proposes online gambling advertising restrictions

Regulation

Mexico City lawmaker Alberto Martínez Urincho introduced proposed gambling reforms earlier this month, including limits on betting advertising and biometric checks to prevent minors from gambling. The proposal would also bring prediction markets under gambling rules, but it must first pass through the local legislative process before it can be sent to Mexico’s federal Congress, according to legal director Andrea Avedillo.

The proposal could affect advertising, player checks and prediction-market operators if it advances through the legislative process.
