MERKUR GROUP says its new state-concession casino in Siegburg, Germany, is due to open on 10 December 2026, with a three-day opening event running until 12 December. The company said the venue, MERKUR SPIELBANK Siegburg, is its sixth state-licensed casino in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The group said it is investing more than €35m in the site, which will have around 1,600 square metres of gaming floor with classic roulette and card tables and around 250 gaming machines. According to the company, the casino will create around 100 jobs across various professions. Construction ran from a ground-breaking at the end of March 2025 to the December 2026 opening, a period of around 20 months, the company said.
The opening event is to feature actor Patrick Duffy, known for the role of Bobby Ewing in the television series Dallas, and his partner, the US actress and singer Linda Purl. The company said the pair have confirmed their attendance and will appear together at a public event in Germany for the first time.
David Schnabel, the MERKUR GROUP board member responsible for casinos, said live entertainment is part of the company's approach and that guests in Siegburg should be offered more than gaming from the first day. He said Duffy's attendance made the occasion more unusual for the company.
