Matiks, an India-based gaming company, said on 26 October 2026 that it raised $10m in pre-Series A funding. The round was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Indian entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala and existing investors Info Edge Ventures, Tanglin Venture Partners and Untitled Ventures. The company said the total raised to date is more than $13.5m.
“We found the Matiks vision, product, and most importantly the community to be truly N of 1. The team’s product taste and pace of iteration made it a no-brainer”
Matiks said its daily users grew from 22,000 earlier in the year to more than 300,000 by September. The app recorded 2.2 million monthly active users in that month, according to the company.
The company was founded by Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar and Sushant Timmapur, who are college friends. Bhatia said he began working on the idea while at American Express, where he worked on an anti-money laundering strategy, and that he has a background in competitive mental math.
Within the app, players pick from four categories — Math, Puzzle, Memory and Logic — and can face bots in practice before moving on to matches with real people. Challenges and quests let them collect points, keep streaks going and open up new games. Growth has been Matiks' priority so far; this month it started trialling a paid subscription that adds game analysis, tips and tricks, practice and other features. Users can also buy in-game items to bypass some challenges, preserve a streak or increase XP points.
According to Bhatia, India accounts for most of the game's players, though the U.S., South Korea and Japan have also shown traction. Localisation is planned to help grow the last two of those markets. Separately, Matiks has launched Jelo, described as an experimental platform for game creation where users can build their own games and have other people play them.
Matiks has 41 full-time employees and intends to use the funding to scale the Jelo platform while expanding into newer markets. Rahul Humayan, a partner at General Catalyst, said the product's pace of iteration and user engagement gave the firm encouraging signs.
Bhatia said the company wanted to make math-related games as entertaining as other content. "For the last 10 years, the platforms have made entertainment consumption easy, but much of it is brain slop," he said.
Humayan said: "We found the Matiks vision, product, and most importantly the community to be truly N of 1. The team’s product taste and pace of iteration made it a no-brainer."
