Massachusetts Gaming Commission fines Fanatics $20,000 over college bets

Enforcement & compliance

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission fined Fanatics $20,000 after finding that it accepted 83 bets, worth $3,325.88 in total, on a Boston College–Michigan State football game on 21 September 2024. Fanatics said one trading-team member overrode a betting restriction, that it voided losing wagers and paid winning ones, and that the employee had left the company; the commission voted 4-1 for the fine.

The fine reinforces Massachusetts’ restriction on bets involving in-state college teams and puts Fanatics’ controls under scrutiny.
