Massachusetts bill proposes 51% online sports betting tax
Massachusetts Senate Bill 302 proposes raising the online sports betting tax rate from 20% to 51%, the report said. The bill would also prohibit in-play and proposition bets, require affordability checks at specified wagering thresholds and tighten rules for VIP programmes; its reporting deadline was extended to 6 March.
If enacted, the proposal would change operators’ tax burden, permitted wagers and customer-monitoring obligations in Massachusetts.
