Masetti urges Italy to prioritise public health in gambling reform
ANCI Emilia-Romagna representative Massimo Masetti said Italy’s gambling reform should focus on public health, reducing supply and using local data. He cited an estimate of €6bn to €8bn in public costs for gambling-related harms in 2017, and said the figure could now exceed the €11.4bn in gambling tax revenue reported for the sector.
The proposals could shape national rules on gambling supply and the role of local authorities.
