Madrid appoints Jorge Rodrigo to oversee gambling functions

Jorge Rodrigo has taken charge of the Comunidad de Madrid ministry responsible for gambling functions, the Consejería de Medio Ambiente, Agricultura e Interior, according to a report. The ministry oversees gambling authorisation, inspection and sanctions, as well as management of the Registro del Juego and the Registro de Interdicciones de Acceso al Juego. Rodrigo took office on 28 October following publication of his appointment in the Boletín Oficial de la Comunidad de Madrid.
Rodrigo, previously minister of housing, transport and infrastructure, succeeds Carlos Novillo. Novillo is leaving the regional government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso to join the People's Party's Madrid candidate list for the general election on 29 November. José María García Gómez, until now deputy minister of the housing, transport and infrastructure department, takes over that portfolio from Rodrigo.
In August, the Comunidad de Madrid appointed Nuria Baratas Crespo as support technician in the inspection area of the Subdirección General de Ordenación y Gestión del Juego. The appointment, made through the free designation procedure, was published in the Boletín Oficial. Baratas Crespo had headed the Subsección de Gestión IV within the same subdirectorate's gambling management area, a post left vacant by the award.
