Regulation

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was expected to announce a provisional measure that could ban betting on 25 September, according to media reporting. The report said the proposal's treatment of licensed companies and their fees remained uncertain; each had paid BRL 30 million for a five-year licence. The Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming has acknowledged the possibility of challenging the measure in court.

A ban could affect licensed operators' market access, licence payments and contracts with Brazilian football clubs and other stakeholders.
