Luca Squeri urges Italy to accelerate gambling-sector reforms

Regulation

Luca Squeri, a Forza Italia member of Italy’s Chamber of Deputies, called for faster reform of the public gambling sector at the Acadi Forum, according to a report. He said more than 500 municipalities no longer had a local gambling venue and argued that reduced legal availability could shift play towards illegal channels. Squeri also called for predictable concession renewals, a permanent consultation body and more consistent rules across regions and municipalities.

Operators face possible changes to concession renewals, taxation and rules governing gambling venues.
