Lithuania’s GSA closes Betsson advertising inquiry without sanctions

Regulation

Lithuania’s Gaming Supervision Authority closed its inspection of Betsson over the use of the brand in the national basketball league’s name. The regulator said it would impose no fine or other sanction after the company corrected the breach during the inquiry, changing the presentation to identify Betsson as sponsor and withdrawing the registered “Betsson LKL” trademark.

The decision shows that corrective action during an inquiry can avert sanctions under Lithuania’s gambling-advertising rules.

The agreements’ future depends on legal definitions and the Brazilian Congress’s decision.
