Uganda’s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board said authorities destroyed 6,749 illegal gaming machines under court orders and worked with the Uganda Communications Commission to block 23 websites linked to unlicensed operators. The regulator also reported 24 prosecutions in the three years to June 2026, with 21 convictions and three cases still before the courts.
It was reported that NWGB destroyed 142 illegal gambling machines at a Mahikeng scrap yard. Authorities had confiscated the machines from tuck shops and informal businesses.
