KwaZulu-Natal tables gambling tax bill projecting up to R100m annually
KwaZulu-Natal finance MEC Francois Rodgers tabled the Gaming and Betting Tax Bill, 2026, before the provincial legislature. Rodgers said its proposed levies could raise R50m to R100m annually, with revenue going to the Provincial Revenue Fund and a Gaming and Betting Transformation Fund. The province also called on national authorities to finalise online gambling legislation.
Licensed operators in KwaZulu-Natal could face a new tax and levy framework if the bill is enacted.
