Korea Gambling Problem Prevention Center reports 56% youth exposure in Gangwon and Jeju

Regulation

The Korea Gambling Problem Prevention and Treatment Center found that 56% of children surveyed in Gangwon and Jeju had encountered gambling promotional material, according to a media report. More than 5% said they had gambled, compared with a national average of around 3%, and their average age at first online bet was 12 years and six months. The center plans youth workshops, while a statutory amendment requires school prevention sessions at least twice a year.

Schools and prevention planners can use the reported exposure and gambling findings to target youth prevention efforts.
