Kenya proposes 5% penalty for gambling operators that delay payouts

Regulation

Kenya has proposed rules requiring gambling operators to pay winners within 14 days. Under the proposal, a licensee would pay the Gambling Regulatory Authority a penalty equal to 5%, while the winner would receive the unpaid amount plus interest at 5% a day for 21 days; continued non-payment could lead to licence suspension.

Operators would face penalties and possible licence suspension for late winner payments.
