Kenya court hears challenge to gambling licensing rules and Paybill threats
AGOK said communications allegedly sent through Safaricom threatened to switch operators’ Paybills on 24 September, as a High Court challenge to Kenya’s gambling licensing rules continued. The court set 2 October 2026 for its ruling and gave respondents three days to file their response, followed by three-day periods for the petitioner’s supplementary affidavit and respondents’ submissions.
The ruling could affect enforcement of Kenya’s licensing rules and payment controls for gambling transactions.
