The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke approved five candidates for appointment to one-year terms as commissioners of the interim Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission at a council meeting on 13 October 2026, the council announced on 19 October. The five are Peggy Mayo Standup, Marcy Delisle, Michelle Phillips, Daryl Leclaire and Frank McComber.
Janice Beauvais and Vicky Diabo currently serve as commissioners. With the new appointments, quorum has been restored and the KGC now has seven commissioners, allowing regular commission meetings to resume.
According to the council, the Mohawk Council Executive Decisions behind the earlier appointments have been rescinded. Donna McComber had been reappointed under MCED No. 84/2025-2026 before stepping down on September 9, 2026. Heather Bauersfeld, reappointed through MCED No. 85/2025-2026, left her post on August 4, 2026. The MCK expressed gratitude to the departing commissioners for their time, commitment and service.
Under the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Law, enacted in 1996, the council may appoint between three and nine members to the KGC on an interim basis until the law is amended.
