Janshen-Hahnraths Group, the parent company of Fair Play Casino, moved from a €10m loss to a €9.6m profit in 2025, according to its recently filed annual report for the year. The Dutch gambling company had been in financial difficulty in recent years and underwent a financial restructuring, which included a WHOA process in which part of its debts were cancelled.

The cancelled debt included a tax liability of slightly more than €10m. Janshen-Hahnraths Group also sold property: it owns several buildings that are used not only as casino locations, and café premises and apartments were among the assets sold.

Total gross revenue fell to €78m in 2025 from more than €80.4m. Online activities grew: revenue at legal online casino Fair Play Online rose by almost a quarter to €31.1m. Revenue from the physical casinos came to almost €46.6m, a decline of 15% on the previous year. Net revenue fell to €51.3m from €55.7m.

Staff costs were also reduced, falling by €7m in 2025 to €17.7m, while the number of employees declined from 376 to 283. The company had previously closed several locations and taken measures to cut costs.

The financial problems were influenced in recent years by the effects of the coronavirus period, the rising gambling tax and a shift of players towards online gambling, according to the report. The company has since invested in renewing the games on offer at its physical locations, including Zonic STM220 gaming machines from Merkur and new slot machines from provider Eurocoin.

For 2026, Janshen-Hahnraths Group expects another positive result. Interim CEO Kim Hollands, who is due to be succeeded by Björn Fuchs, previously told regional media that the company expected to be in profit this year. The company will continue selling property and will focus further on online activities and its physical locations.
