Italy’s financial report cites 70 illegal betting points uncovered in 2025

Italy’s 2025 public-spending report said the Guardia di Finanza uncovered 70 illegal betting collection points and reported 379 people. It also recorded €2.6m in unpaid single tax and €15.5m in PREU, while the report said the Customs and Monopolies Agency met its objectives and strengthened controls against illegal and underage gambling.

The reported enforcement figures give operators and regulators an account of illegal betting activity and tax evasion in Italy.

Reportedly, Financial police raided a private flat hosting an illegal poker game in Vienna. A poker player who had been cheated contacted police before authorities uncovered the game.

Police and financial police carried out a joint raid on a private flat in Vienna-Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus in early October over illegal gambling, according to a report. The operation followed a complaint from a poker player who reported fraud. Police were already at the scene when the financial police of the Office for Combating Fraud arrived, and an standby unit was also called in.
