Italy's 2027 budget is expected to raise about €800m in revenue from the gaming sector, according to a media report citing the news agency Agi. The figure is higher than the €718m assumed in the Documento Programmatico di Bilancio, the report said. The new budget law was on the agenda of a cabinet meeting at Palazzo Chigi on 28 October 2026.
Measures reported to be under consideration for the gaming sector include a possible increase in the Preu levy on video lotteries and an extension of two or three years for retail concessions for betting, bingo and gaming machines. The report said a concession for scratchcards was also being assessed, along with possible measures to regularise Sale Lan venues, which are linked to esports, and to recover the outstanding debt of the slot chain for the extraordinary levy introduced by the Renzi government in 2015.
The report attributes the details to majority sources, as cited by Agi, and describes the measures as hypothetical items for inclusion in the budget. No company or government statement on the individual measures was given in the source, and no appeal or next step beyond the cabinet discussion was stated.
