Italy prepares draft decree for national land-based gambling rules

Regulation

Italy’s government is preparing a draft decree to establish national rules for land-based gambling, covering slot machines, bingo halls and VLTs. The proposal is expected to reduce permitted slot-machine venues by about 10% and cut slot machines from around 240,000 to 200,000; it would proceed to the Council of Ministers and further review if approved.

The proposed rules could change venue, machine, distance and opening-hour requirements for operators across Italy.
