Irish regulator warns unlicensed gambling promotion carries criminal risk

Regulation · SectorWire deskSource published

Summary

Ireland's Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland said promoting an unlicensed gambling operator is unlawful and that offences connected with unlicensed bookmaking can carry prison sentences of up to eight years. The warning follows promotions of crypto casino Rainbet by Cork-based influencer Vladyslav Morhulets, known as Rendy Vlad, and fellow creator Maksym Yakushev. Rainbet does not hold an Irish betting licence.

Why it matters

The GRAI's warning puts affiliates and creators promoting unlicensed operators in scope for prosecution, raising compliance risk for Irish-facing marketing.
