Rodrigo García, head of projects at Interconexión Castilla y León, presented a ten-slide overview of the technological evolution of type B machines at the XIX Congreso de Juego de Castilla y León, according to the presentation published in full by InfoPlay. The presentation, titled "De la máquina al sistema conectado: evolución tecnológica de las máquinas tipo B", was given in the panel "¿Evolución o reconversión?" and described a model of type B machines with games hosted on a server.
According to the presentation, the server-hosted model "already exists and works in Castilla y León" and is "established technology, not a future hypothesis". The presentation set out the four parts of the system — terminals, games server, databases and platform — and how software and data circulate. It compared the traditional model, in which play is tied to a specific terminal and information is "fragmented and dispersed", with the connected model, which works with a centralised catalogue, dynamic downloading and an integrated view of the network.
For the Administration, the presentation highlighted complete traceability, software integrity and the capacity to verify and audit, with the platform acting "as support for legal controls, not as their substitute". Among possible developments it cited advanced analytics and predictive maintenance, and stated that artificial intelligence is "a possible support, not implemented".
The presentation listed five challenges: security against unauthorised access, software integrity, data reliability, operational continuity, and the management of permissions and audits. It concluded: "Evolution does not consist only of connecting machines. It consists of taking advantage of that connection to manage better, supervise better and demonstrate that the system works as it should."
