Illinois casinos generated $181m in April revenue, according to figures from the Illinois Gaming Board. Slot revenue rose 13.6% to $138.7m and table-game revenue increased 4.4% to $42.3m; 13 of the state’s 17 casinos recorded year-on-year growth.

Bally’s Chicago paid its $4m annual contribution to the city on 9 September. Bally’s had threatened to withhold payment, alleging that the city had failed to meet its obligations under their Host Community Agreement.
MGM Excavating filed liens in July against Bally’s Chicago and the Chicago Community Builders Collective. The contractor alleges unpaid work through March and seeks more than $3.8m, including sums for two subcontractors. It was reported that Bally’s Chicago had not responded to the filings.
Gaming & Leisure Properties reported first-quarter 2026 revenue of $420 million, up from $395.2 million, and profit of $239.4 million, compared with $170.4 million a year earlier. CEO Peter Carlino said Bally’s Chicago remained on schedule to open in 2027; GLPI had financed $299.6 million of its $940 million commitment to the project.
Bally’s Chicago appointed Cheryl Ash as chief financial officer to succeed Charlie Diao, the company said. The change is subject to customary regulatory approvals; Diao is due to leave at the end of March. Ash currently serves as senior vice-president of finance for Bally’s Corporation’s Casinos and Resorts division.
The Illinois Gaming Board proposed rules to extend self-exclusion checks to the state’s nearly 50,000 video gaming terminals, according to the report. The proposed system would require players to verify their identity when obtaining vouchers or opening an account, and operators would need to offer account holders responsible-gambling limits, including self-exclusion.
