Hoiana plans Singapore office to build regional casino-resort partnerships

Hoiana Resort & Golf, a casino resort in Vietnam, intends to set up a base in Singapore, according to a press release issued on a Friday. The resort frames the move as a way to pursue additional commercial opportunities around Southeast Asia. The release followed a Meet Hoiana gathering in Singapore on 20 October. Hoiana stressed that the plan is a proposed office only, not an announcement that any office has begun operating.

Hoiana reported that the event drew more than 100 attendees. Those present came from fields including media, lifestyle, banking, aviation, travel and golf. In the resort's view, having a base there would let it strengthen ties with travel trade and business partners, and would also assist its efforts to be promoted as a holiday destination.

Alan Teo, the chief executive, set out a long-term aim for Hoiana to rank among the leading regional destinations for entertainment, leisure and MICE, a category spanning meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. Making the property a must-visit destination in Southeast Asia is another goal he described. In Teo's account, Singapore is a significant component of that strategy. He told the gathering that he wanted to build lasting relationships with the city's business and travel communities.

Hoiana's next stage of development was another topic at the Singapore event. The resort disclosed that 198 beachside villas are planned, which would add a further accommodation element to the expansion it has proposed. These villas sit within Hoiana's second phase. More than 1,000 five-star hotel rooms were said by the property's promoter, in earlier comments to GGRAsia, to be part of that same phase. Hoiana noted that neither the villas nor the extra rooms are counted among the accommodation it already operates; both are planned for that phase.

According to Teo, Hoiana's commitment to creating a distinctive integrated destination on Vietnam's central coast has not changed. In his view, hospitality, distinctive visitor experiences and carefully planned development are central to the property's continued evolution. His presentation tied entertainment, business events and leisure together within one long-term vision for Hoiana's regional development.

The property's existing hotel inventory is made up of four names: Hoiana Hotel & Suites, New World Hoiana Beach Resort, New World Hoiana Hotel and Hoiana Residences. Alongside those rooms, the resort's current operations take in the Hoiana Shores Golf Club, gaming space and a range of amenities outside gaming.
