Greek government proposes expanded gambling enforcement powers for regulator

Regulation

The Greek government has sent a bill to Parliament that would give the Hellenic Gaming Commission new powers to investigate, block and sanction unregulated operators. The proposal cites estimates of nearly 800,000 users of illegal gambling services in the past year and a market worth €1.6bn to €2bn annually; public consultation runs until 15 June.

Operators could face expanded investigations and website-blocking measures if Parliament approves the bill.
