Regulation

Ghana’s High Court ordered MSport to refund GH¢364,847 to Gafat Consult after an employee used the company’s mobile money account to place bets, according to the report. Justice Ayitey Armah-Tetteh ruled on 19 March 2026 that MSport had failed to prevent a corporate merchant number from being registered as a personal account. The court also ordered interest from August 2022, GH¢40,000 in costs and a declaration of regulatory failure.

The ruling highlights operators’ financial exposure when corporate merchant accounts are used for unauthorised betting.
