Gambling Commission stages financial risk assessments for high-spending customers
The UK Gambling Commission said it will introduce financial risk assessments in stages to identify and support high-spending customers in financial difficulty. In the first phase, the largest operators will assess customers who generally reach £5,000 in net deposits over 24 hours; the Commission said fewer than 0.5% of customers exceed that threshold. The regulator will set the stage-one timetable after further industry engagement.
Operators will need to prepare for checks on a small group of high-spending customers and follow existing licence requirements.
