In brief
- Flows has launched Sphere Wheel, a free-to-play 3D spin wheel mini-game, through its FlowsWave engagement layer.
- Operators can customise prizes, probabilities, currency and visual styling; Flows manages technology, security and outcome.
- Sphere Wheel is the second mini-game on FlowsWave, after the crash game TakeDown, launched earlier this month.
Flows has introduced Sphere Wheel, a free-to-play mini-game that runs through FlowsWave, described by the company as its player-facing engagement layer. The mechanic is a spin wheel rendered in 3D. Operators, according to Flows, are able to set up the prizes, probabilities, currency and visual styling themselves, with the technology, security and final outcome handled by Flows.
Sphere Wheel can be triggered by player events and shown at different points in the player journey, according to the company. Flows said operators can use it in rewards, missions, login bonuses, retention and wider gamification campaigns. The company said the game offers a wider range of potential prizes and outcomes than traditional spin wheels, with different visual treatments and animations around higher-value wins.
Flows said FlowsWave works alongside an operator's existing technology and content, so new player-facing experiences can be introduced without rebuilding the underlying platform. Sphere Wheel is the second mini-game to launch through FlowsWave, after TakeDown, a free-to-play crash game. Flows said TakeDown launched earlier this month and that more interactive experiences are to follow.
According to Nicola Testasecca, product manager for FlowsWave at Flows, the spin wheel is a mechanic players already know well and enjoy, and Sphere Wheel was built to extend that experience and open up more uses for operators. Testasecca added that the 3D format works well on mobile, keeping visual quality high while allowing a much broader set of prizes and outcomes. Anything built within FlowsWave, Testasecca said, can be branded by operators, adapted to different campaigns and linked into the wider player journey.
“Spin Wheels are already a really familiar and popular mechanic with players, so with Sphere Wheel we wanted to take that experience further and give operators more ways to use it.”
