Federal judge pauses Connecticut enforcement action against Kalshi
US District Judge Vernon Oliver ordered Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection to pause enforcement of its cease-and-desist order against Kalshi while the court considers the company’s request for temporary injunctive relief. The department had alleged that Kalshi, Robinhood and Crypto.com enabled unlicensed online gambling through sports event contracts; the court set briefing dates through 30 January and scheduled oral arguments for 12 February.
The pause delays Connecticut enforcement against Kalshi while the court considers whether the state can regulate its event contracts.
