Federal court dismisses Ute tribes’ Colorado sports betting lawsuit
A US federal judge dismissed a lawsuit by the Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute tribes challenging Colorado’s online sports betting system, reportedly ruling in October that state sovereign immunity barred the case. The tribes said the state’s approach undermined trust and their claimed rights to offer online betting without the state’s 10% tax.
The ruling leaves the tribes’ challenge to Colorado’s control and taxation of off-reservation online bets dismissed.
