FanDuel is reportedly testing digital sports card rips through its rewards programme. The trial is currently available only through that programme.

Through Arena Club, participants in FanDuel's loyalty scheme can earn the chance to open digital card rips. Derek Jeter co-founded Arena Club, a collectibles platform. Its online service lets collectors hold, grade, sell and swap real-world Pokemon and sports cards.

FanDuel declined to comment on the partnership. Dan Taylor, chief executive of FanDuel's parent company Flutter, said initial trials of the product have gone well. Taylor also said digital rips meet customers' appetite for "risk-taking".

Several other companies moved into this area before FanDuel did. Fanatics, which runs a sportsbook alongside a memorabilia and collectibles business, sells a digital card-ripping product named Instant Rips. On its sportsbook, Fanatics also has FanCash Packs, where customers can open packs hoping to win memorabilia and bonuses. PrizePicks and Underdog, both fantasy sports and prediction market operators, have launched their own card rip products.
