Extremadura budgets €25.34m in gambling taxes and fees for 2027

Regulation · SectorWire deskSource published 1 min read

The draft 2027 general budget of Extremadura projects €25.34m in revenue from gambling-related tax items, split between the tax on gaming activities and regional fees on the activity, according to the draft budget document. The figures form part of the 2027 budget bill and are subject to the processing and approval of the region's accounts.

In the revenue detail for the General Administration, the regional government expects to collect €4m from the tax on gaming activities, included in the indirect taxes chapter, and a further €21.34m from gambling fees. The fees item covers revenue linked to the various activities subject to taxation and administrative authorisation in the sector.

The budget's tax benefits document puts the cost to the regional treasury of the partial exemption from the special levy on prizes of certain lotteries and bets at €12.34m. The document describes this as a state-level tax benefit linked to the exempt minimum applicable to certain prizes, recorded within the personal income tax items.

The draft does not identify specific regional rebates, reduced rates or exemptions for casinos, bingo or recreational machines for 2027. The budget forecasts therefore keep revenue from the sector's fees and taxes without providing for new regional tax incentives aimed at these activities.
