European Commission says gambling advertising rules remain national responsibility
The European Commission told the European Parliament’s petitions committee that gambling regulation remains the responsibility of individual member states, according to the report. It said there is no specific EU-wide gambling law, while general consumer-protection rules apply; the response addressed petitions concerning gambling advertising and protection of vulnerable people.
Operators and regulators receive confirmation that gambling advertising policy remains a matter for national authorities.
