EU court confirms Italy may require betting concession and police authorisation
The Court of Justice of the European Union said EU rules do not in principle prevent Italy from requiring both a public concession and police authorisation to collect bets, according to a government report to the Senate. The court said such a system may be justified by the aim of combating organised crime in gambling and betting.
The ruling addresses the conditions operators must meet to collect bets in Italy.
