EU court allows judges to consider collection risks in gambling claims
The Court of Justice of the European Union ruled that national judges considering European Account Preservation Orders may weigh factors that could hinder recovery of a debt, according to the report. The case involved an Austrian player's claim for more than €62,000 after an online gambling company allegedly operated without a valid Austrian licence; the court said assets are not frozen automatically.
The ruling may affect players' ability to seek interim freezes on online gambling companies' EU bank accounts.
