Dutch government rejects plans for new gambling market-entry restrictions
The Dutch government does not plan to add restrictions on how gambling companies enter the regulated market, according to a report. State Secretary Claudia van Bruggen said the existing framework gives the Kansspelautoriteit authority to assess licence applicants and intervene where necessary. The issue arose after MPs questioned whether corporate structures could allow companies with histories of unlicensed activity to return indirectly.
Operators and applicants will continue to face the existing reliability assessment and unlicensed-market cooling-off requirements.
