Dominican Congress approves gambling law with one-year operator transition

Regulation

The Dominican Congress approved a gambling law that awaits promulgation by the executive, according to a media report. Existing operators would have one year to regularise their status, update documents and connect their technology platforms; electronic lottery concessionaires would need to replace state contracts with licences in the same period. The law would establish an autonomous gambling authority and set licence terms by activity.

Operators would need to update compliance documents and technology within one year if the law is promulgated.
