In brief
- The DGJA has set a non-extendable 30-calendar-day period to declare betting establishments missed in the initial Regularisation Plan.
- Resolution No. 02-2026 allows declarations online or in person at the National Lottery headquarters in Santo Domingo.
- The DGJA said the measure aims to formalise unregistered venues and curb evasion of government fees.
Lottery outlet, sports betting shop and betting location owners and operators across the Dominican Republic have received an official reminder from the Directorate General of Games of Chance (DGJA). Under Resolution No. 02-2026, the regulator created a special window of 30 calendar days that cannot be extended, during which establishments left out of the initial Regularization Plan may come forward and declare themselves voluntarily.
According to the DGJA, the special period serves three aims: tidying up the domestic market, bringing unregularized establishments into the formal system, and building a gambling environment that is more transparent and easier to enforce. Retailers, the regulator added, are being handed one last chance to put their tax and operational affairs in order before serious sanctions or permanent shutdowns would apply.
Applications may be submitted through two routes. One is the official digital platform that the authorities have set up; the other is a visit in person to the National Lottery's Santo Domingo headquarters.
The DGJA presents the measure as one element of a wider Dominican government effort, carried out in coordination with National Lottery General Administrator Teófilo "Quico" Tabar, aimed at restructuring the betting sector, penalising establishments that fail to comply and reducing the evasion of government fees. Associations and retail business owners are being pressed by the regulator to file their declarations before the regulation's deadline passes.
