A judge for preliminary investigations at the Court of Cosenza issued precautionary measures against 15 people at the request of the Cosenza public prosecutor's office, in an investigation into the management of telematic gaming machines with cash prizes. Carabinieri from the provincial command executed the measures on the morning of 26 October 2026, with support from staff of the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM), according to the prosecutor's office account reported.

The investigation was carried out by Carabinieri officers and officials of the ADM's central games directorate, based in Rome, under the coordination of the Cosenza prosecutor's office. The alleged offences, contested on various grounds, include criminal association aimed at committing crimes against the public administration, property and the administration of justice. Among the offences alleged are also corruption for acts contrary to official duties, disclosure and use of official secrets, aggravated fraud against the state and aiding and abetting.

The inquiry focuses on the sector of telematic gaming machines with cash prizes, a field subject to checks by the ADM within its remit. The operation followed joint checks by the Carabinieri and the ADM intended to reconstruct the conduct under investigation and any responsibility of those involved.

The first information released did not specify the details of the individual precautionary measures or the roles attributed to the 15 recipients of the order. Further elements may emerge from the prosecutor's office's inquiries and from information made available by investigators.
