ChristenUnie and SP propose tougher online gambling rules in Dutch bill

Regulation

Dutch MPs Mirjam Bikker of ChristenUnie and Sarah Dobbe of SP proposed a bill to tighten online gambling rules in the Netherlands. Their proposals include raising the maximum fixed fine to €5 million, allowing turnover-based fines of up to 100%, making licence suspensions easier and increasing the minimum Cruks exclusion period from six to 12 months. The bill also proposes a broad online gambling advertising ban and faster blocking of illegal sites.

If adopted, the proposals would change penalty limits, advertising rules and exclusion requirements for online gambling operators.
