Chile Supreme Court upholds SCJ authority to classify gaming machines

Regulation

Chile’s Supreme Court upheld the Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego’s authority to classify gaming machines, confirming the rejection of a challenge by Comercial Cofan E.I.R.L. The court left in place the SCJ’s recommendation that Castro municipality should not renew the company’s commercial licence for operating the machines.

Municipalities must consider the SCJ’s machine classification when granting or renewing licences for gaming-machine venues.
