Chile's government proposes 3% tax and online betting advertising ban
President José Antonio Kast's government presented a bill in Chile to regulate online betting, the government said, proposing a 3% additional tax alongside 19% VAT. The proposal would prohibit advertising by licensed and unlicensed operators and ban promotional offers intended to attract or retain users; it would also require platforms to obtain licences valid for five years.
The proposed tax and advertising restrictions could affect operators’ costs and customer acquisition in Chile.
