Global Gaming Solutions, a subsidiary of the Chickasaw Nation, has acquired Wyoming Horse Racing, according to an announcement. The purchase covers 13 Horse Palace off-track betting locations in Wyoming, more than 1,500 historic horse racing machines and live racing at Sweetwater Downs Racetrack in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Chickasaw Nation governor Chris Anoatubby said diversification of the tribal nation's business portfolio remains part of its strategy. "Diversification of our business portfolio remains an integral business strategy that continues our vision of economic stability and longevity for Chickasaw citizens," Anoatubby said.
The acquisition adds Wyoming to a portfolio that includes Remington Park in Oklahoma City and Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. Global Gaming Solutions also manages nearly 1,400 hotel rooms at WinStar World Casino and Resort and directly employs more than 1,250 people in Oklahoma, Texas, California and Wyoming.
Dan Boren, Chickasaw Nation secretary of commerce and Global Gaming Solutions board chairman, said the subsidiary had expanded in gaming, racing and entertainment in Oklahoma, then Texas and now Wyoming over nearly 20 years. "Our proven expertise and commitment to customer experiences align seamlessly with the established Horse Palace OTBs and racing operations," Boren said.
Global Gaming Solutions president and CEO Skip Seeley said hundreds of employees and thousands of patrons in communities across the state are part of the Horse Palace and Sweetwater Downs operations. "We look forward to growing relationships with the people in each of those communities for years to come," Seeley said.
Wyoming Horse Racing was acquired by Pacesetter Racing and Gaming, in conjunction with WY Funding, from Eugene Joyce in December 2021. Pacesetter Racing and Gaming is owned by Nick Hughes, John Sheldon and Pete Liguori.
