CFTC proposes changes to rule governing gaming-related event contracts
The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission proposed amendments to Rule 40.11, setting out how it would classify contracts involving specified activities, the report said. The proposal would exclude certain sports contracts, including those tied to player injuries, officiating and pre-college athletics, while the CFTC argues that Dodd-Frank gives it authority over other sports event contracts.
The proposal could shape which sports and gaming-related event contracts prediction-market platforms may offer under federal oversight.
