Regulation · SectorWire deskSource published 2 min read

The first day of the XIX Congreso de Juego de Castilla y León, held at the Aula Magna Tirso de Molina in Soria, produced 18 reports across 15 media outlets, according to a count by InfoPlay. The outlets included agencies, regional dailies, local media, a radio station and the regional television service.

Most of the coverage focused on the opening address by the councillor for the Presidency, Luis Miguel González Gago, and the figures he gave. According to the source, the sector in Castilla y León has more than 450 companies, close to 2,000 direct jobs and an annual contribution of nearly €60m to the regional treasury.

The regional government, the Junta, is finalising the Estrategia de Prevención y Tratamiento del Juego Patológico 2027-2030, the source says. The future strategy was reported by the Promecal group dailies Diario de Ávila, Diario de Burgos and Diario Palentino, and by Valladolid Plural. Tribuna de Soria had reported it the previous day.

Europa Press opened the morning with a report on the sector's challenges, citing the 450 companies and 2,000 jobs in the region, which MSN reproduced. desdeSoria published a report and a photo album, El Mirón de Soria focused on the €60m annual contribution to the Junta's accounts, and Castilla y León Económica addressed the sector's economic weight.

Another group of outlets highlighted the councillor's message on reconciling economic activity with the protection of people. La Razón, El Heraldo-Diario de Soria, SoriaTV, Zamora24horas and Inforadio Montaña Leonesa reported on that balance, according to the source.

SoriaNoticias took a different angle, reporting that Castilla y León has one venue with betting machines for every 150 people. The report put the number of establishments with machines in the region at more than 16,300, most of them hospitality venues, with León the province with the most such premises.

La 8 Soria, of Castilla y León Televisión, covered the congress in its 14:00 news bulletin from minute 4:18, including a live link from the Aula Magna Tirso de Molina, remarks by González Gago and footage of the full auditorium. The source says general-press coverage so far has centred on the institutional opening, while the panel debates and the presentation by journalist Javier Chicote could, at the time of publication, be followed only in InfoPlay's reports, such as its interview with Carmen Rodrigo, president of the salons of Castilla y León.
