Caesars asks judge to dismiss Cayuga Nation sports betting lawsuit

Regulation

Caesars Sportsbook asked a federal judge to dismiss the Cayuga Nation’s lawsuit over mobile sports wagers allegedly placed from the reservation. Caesars argued that federal tribal gaming law does not give the Nation a claim against a private sportsbook and said its servers were outside tribal land. The Nation alleges Caesars accepted unauthorised wagers from January 2022 to July 2025; it seeks wager revenue, lost profits and other damages. The Nation’s response is due 22 September, with Caesars’ reply due 29 September.

The ruling could clarify whether a tribe can pursue a private sportsbook over alleged mobile wagering on reservation land.
