Brazilian Senate committee approves tighter online betting restrictions
Brazil’s Senate Science and Technology Committee approved bill PL 2.470/2026 on 2 September, proposing wider limits on betting advertising and sponsorship, risk criteria for games and additional operator duties. The bill is due to go to the Social Affairs Committee and has also received an urgency request for a plenary vote; a lawyer quoted in the report said prohibition could push players towards illegal platforms.
Operators may face broader advertising, sponsorship and compliance restrictions if the bill advances.
