Brazilian ministries establish betting and health observatory

Regulation

Brazil’s health and finance ministries signed a technical cooperation agreement on 3 December to establish an observatory on health and electronic betting, the ministries said. The finance ministry’s central self-exclusion tool is due to let users block access to authorised betting sites from 10 December; public mental-health teleconsultations focused on betting problems are planned from February 2026, initially at 450 appointments a month.

Operators will need to support a nationwide self-exclusion system, while public services prepare dedicated care for people with betting-related problems.
